Shooter Accused Of Killing One Teen, Hospitalizing Another In Maryland: Police

A 22-year-old Baltimore man who attempted to avoid his arrest has been charged in connection to the death of a 17-year-old in a double shooting that left a second teen boy hospitalized, police say.

Korey Hopson has been taken into custody and charged with murder and other offenses following a deadly midday May shooting that left Denzel Johnson with fatal wounds. 

According to the Baltimore Police Department, shortly before 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, officers were called to the 900 block of North Dukeland Street, where there were reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, they found Johnson suffering from a fatal gunshot wound, and further investigation resulted in the discovery of a 15-year-old who was also shot. 

Both were taken to an area hospital, where Johnson was pronounced dead and the teen was treated for less severe injuries.

On Friday, a spokesperson for the department announced that Hopson was arrested in the 3900 block of Stokes Road after attempting to elude officers through a wooded area.

He was taken to the Baltimore Central Booking Intake Facility, where Hopson was charged with first- and second-degree murder and conspiracy, assault, first- and second-degree attempted murder.
